Argena I.G.T 2003
Wine from Sangiovese grapes and small quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from the 30 years old Argena vineyard.
A late harvest (vendemmia tardiva) with a manual selection of the best grapes ensures the best quality of raw materials brought into the cellar.
Vinification takes place in vats, wooden barrels of French oak with abundant manual punching during the first eight days of fermentation, followed by a long maceration of the skins for a total of 21 days.
After the stopover in barrel tanks, the new wine is transferred before in French barriques for twelve months and after in 26 hl. wooden barrels.
The wine was bottled in the third week of September 2008 with a very light filtration and then aged in glass.
Production was by 5,698 regular 75 cl. bottles and 499 magnum.
Beautiful coloring of medium intensity typical of a Real Sangiovese wine. Complex spicy note, hot elements of Mediterranean and cherry. Nice roundness of taste and nice thick.
